Carolyn will be giving her talk 'Cannonballs, Corsets and Coal: an 18th Century Story in 8 Objects', which introduces her latest novel 'Ravenglass'.

This talk will take us on a fascinating journey into the world of the early Georgians, exploring the people, places and material culture that shaped 18th-century Britain. Through eight objects featured in her new novel, Ravenglass, Carolyn will uncover a pivotal period of social and political change — from the birth of industrialised coal-mining and the terrors of the transatlantic slave trade, to the outlawing of tartan and the extraordinary Georgian craze for shopping.
